OSTP Space Weather Event, Oct 2015, DC

The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) will host an event on October 29, 2015 from 2:00-4:30 pm ET at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building on "Space Weather: Understanding Potential Impacts and Building Resilience."    The event will feature speakers from the Federal Government, industry, academia, and Congress and announcements about new Administration efforts related to space weather.  InfraGard EMP SIG in attendance.

Russia to kill drones, missiles with 10km-range super-high frequency cannon

Russia’s Rostec Corporation is to unveil a super-high frequency weapon capable of taking down all kinds of drones, missiles and other high precision weapons. The presentation will be made at the Army-2015 military expo.

 

The Mosow Radio Engineering Institute has developed a super-high frequency (SHF) ‘cannon’. It’s designed to knock out aircraft, drones, guided missiles and any airborne high precision weapons using electronics.

The cannon creates an air-exclusion zone within a reported radius of over 10 kilometers around the defended object or installation, though the system’s exact characteristics are classified.

Obama ‘Prepping’ For Nationwide Blackout?

Quietly and with little public attention, the federal government has made moves in recent months to prepare for a nationwide blackout that could last weeks or months.

It’s something you’ll likely hear more about later this year, and it’s the topic of this week’s edition of Off The Grid Radio. Our guest is Charles “Chuck” Manto. Chuck is chief executive officer of Instant Access Networks LLC, a consulting and research and development firm that produces independently tested solutions for EMP-protected microgrids and equipment shelters for telecommunications networks and data centers. He received six patents in telecommunications, computer mass storage, and EMP protection and has another one pending for a smart microgrid controller. He is a senior member of the IEEE and founded and leads InfraGard National’s EMP SIG.

US Air Force confirms Boeing's electromagnetic pulse weapon

For the last few years, the creative minds of Hollywood had seemingly outpaced the reality of technological and scientific advances in the weapons field. But no longer. Stepping out of the realm of science fiction and into reality is the joint U.S. Air Force and Boeing electromagnetic pulse weapon, capable of targeting and destroying electrical systems without the collateral damage often associated with traditional firepower. Remote attacks to hack and set cars to self-destruct?

Let’s say you’re driving and otherwise minding your own business, when like a scene out of Mission Impossible, a malicious hacker launches a “Self Destruct” attack on your vehicle. It could happen according to the Center for Automotive Embedded Systems Security.
