OSTP Space Weather Event, Oct 2015, DC

The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) will host an event on October 29, 2015 from 2:00-4:30 pm ET at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building on "Space Weather: Understanding Potential Impacts and Building Resilience."    The event will feature speakers from the Federal Government, industry, academia, and Congress and announcements about new Administration efforts related to space weather.  InfraGard EMP SIG in attendance.

Russia to kill drones, missiles with 10km-range super-high frequency cannon

Russia’s Rostec Corporation is to unveil a super-high frequency weapon capable of taking down all kinds of drones, missiles and other high precision weapons. The presentation will be made at the Army-2015 military expo.

 

The Mosow Radio Engineering Institute has developed a super-high frequency (SHF) ‘cannon’. It’s designed to knock out aircraft, drones, guided missiles and any airborne high precision weapons using electronics.

The cannon creates an air-exclusion zone within a reported radius of over 10 kilometers around the defended object or installation, though the system’s exact characteristics are classified.

Obama ‘Prepping’ For Nationwide Blackout?

Heading Toward An EMP Catastrophe

For over a decade now, since the Congressional EMP Commission delivered its first report to Congress eleven years ago in July of 2004, various Senate and House committees have heard from numerous scientific and strategic experts the consensus view that natural and manmade electromagnetic pulse (EMP) is an existential threat to the survival of the American people, that EMP is a clear and present danger, and that something must be done to protect the electric grid and other life sustaining critical infrastructures--immediately.

Yet this counsel and the cost-effective solutions proposed to the looming EMP threat have been ignored.  Continued inaction by Washington will make inevitable a natural or manmade EMP catastrophe that, as the Congressional EMP Commission warned, could kill up to 90 percent of the national population through starvation, disease, and societal collapse.

Government Agency Warns If 9 Substations Are Destroyed, The Power Grid Could Be Down For 18 Months

What would you do if the Internet or the power grid went down for over a year?  Our key infrastructure, including the Internet and the power grid, is far more vulnerable than most people would dare to imagine.  These days, most people simply take for granted that the lights will always be on and that the Internet will always function properly.  But what if all that changed someday in the blink of an eye?  According to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's latest report, all it would take to plunge the entire nation into darkness for more than a yearwould be to knock out a transformer manufacturer and just 9 of our 55,000 electrical substations on a really hot summer day.  The reality of the matter is that our power grid is in desperate need of updating, and there is very little or no physical security at most of these substations.

US Air Force confirms Boeing's electromagnetic pulse weapon
